More than 20,000 fans filed into Arena CDMX on Saturday as the UFC returned to Mexico City, and they were treated to an outstanding collection of main card performances.

Despite losing a fight due to illness during the show, the remaining five bouts did not disappoint, with ascending Mexican talents showcasing their skills in the early portion of the main card before veteran contenders hit the cage and closed things out with consecutive spirited affairs.

Statements were made, divisional positioning shifted, and we’ve got all the details for you below.

Manuel Torres defeats Chris Duncan by submission (rear-naked choke) at 1:46 of Round 1

Manuel Torres continues to waste no time racking up victories in the UFC.

The talented Mexican lightweight got buzzed right out of the chute in his clash with Chris Duncan, but after clinching up to clear his head, Torres opted to grapple, tossing the Scotsman to the canvas multiple times. After a couple scrambles where Duncan quickly worked back to his feet, Torres was finally able to climb onto the back and feed his forearm under the neck, securing the choke before fully locking in the position, leading to a quick tap.

After earning first-round knockouts in each of his first two UFC appearances, “El Loco” showed he can put in work on the canvas as well. Yazmin Jauregui defeats Sam Hughes by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

After suffering the first loss of her career last time out, Yazmin Jauregui returned to the win column with an efficient, effective decision win over Sam Hughes.

The Mexican strawweight, who turns 25 on Wednesday, was the quicker, sharper of the two in a battle that was contested almost exclusively in space. She picked at Hughes from range and easily thwarted any takedown attempts by the Fortis MMA fighter, showing improved poise and patience in order to pick her spots and score with combinations.

For the first time all evening, the judges were in lock step with how they scored the contest, awarding Jauregui the unanimous decision victory. Daniel Zellhuber defeats Francisco Prado by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)

Daniel Zellhuber is starting to figure things out and put it all together.

Saturday night, the 24-year-old “Golden Boy” turned a close, competitive bout with Francisco Prado into a one-sided showcase of his striking skills, busting up the young Argentine in the second. While Prado endured to the final bell, the final five minutes was more of Zellhuber touching him up from range and avoiding the return fire.

Zellhuber dropped his UFC debut, but has been showing impressive development since, extending his winning streak to three with his performance on Saturday. Brian Ortega defeats Yair Rodriguez by submission (arm-triangle choke) at 0:58 of Round 3

Brian Ortega survived an hellacious opening round to secure a third-round submission win over Yair Rodriguez in the co-main event.

Rodriguez stunned Ortega almost straight away to start the fight, busting him up and chasing a finish in the first round. But the two-time title challenger endured and dominated the second, dragging Rodriguez to the canvas and opening a cut under his eye with strikes from top position. As soon as the third began, Ortega worked for another takedown, clamped onto an arm-triangle choke, and secured the tap.

After multiple surgeries and more than three years without a victory, this is a massive moment for Ortega. Brandon Royval defeats Brandon Moreno by decision (48-47, 46-49, 48-47)

As has been the trend as of late, the flyweight main event between Brandon Royval and Brandon Moreno was a tight, closely contested battle that went right down to the final horn with the outcome left in the hands of the judges.

After an opening round where each looked to determine their range and make their reads, the warring Brandons spent the next four five-minute periods going back-and-forth on the feet, with only brief moments where the fight hit the canvas interspersed in between. Moreno seemed to land the bigger individual shots, while Royval was the more active striker of the two, constantly looking to touch the former champion with punches and kicks.

When the scores were read, it was every bit as close as anticipated, with Royval garnering the split decision victory and the biggest win of his career. This was a strong bounce-back effort for the recent title challenger, who called for a rematch with champion Alexandre Pantoja, who was in attendance, following the contest. | Prelim Results | Official Scorecards
