UFC 329 (7/11/26) Garza makes his UFC debut against Farid Basharat

When and why did you start training for fighting? At 15 I started training because of my dad, to learn self-defense and to do something productive. I've stuck with it since.

What does it mean for you to fight for the UFC? Everything. I've been working towards this goal for 8 years. I've put all my eggs in one basket. There has never been a Plan B. Now I'll show everyone what I'm made of.

Who is your favorite fighter and why? Prime Conor McGregor, the way he embodied the spirit of confidence and competition. He was truly one of a kind.

Do you have any heroes outside of fighting? Jesus Christ.

What are your current ranks in martial arts? Contender for Fury FC title.

Specific accomplishments in pro competition? 6 victories, 4 finishes.

What fight do you consider to be the key fight in your career and why? When I beat Kevin Rosas because of the attention around his name. And my last fight when I KO'd Josh Walker in Fury. Because of the way I finished him — by dropping him multiple times and then soccer kicking him to get the finish — it got me some good attention.

Is there a cause that you want to use your platform for? To be authentic and spread positivity, but most of all to be a good representation of what it means to be a follower of Christ.

Beyond a championship or money, what motivates you? I've always wanted to achieve great things since I was a child. What motivates me is to leave behind a great legacy and to provide for my family.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? No. As I said previously, there was never a Plan B. I pursued fighting.

What was your job before you started fighting? I started fighting amateur before I ever had a regular job, so I guess you could say fighting was my first job.

Favorite grappling technique: Armbar

Favorite striking technique: Liver shot or straight cross.

Tell us about your life outside of fighting: I love anime and manga, play video games, draw, and do arts and crafts. Other than those things, fighting and training is my life.
