When and why did you start training for fighting? I was training just to stay in shape and because I loved it. My coach at the time called me up and asked me if I wanted to fight, so I took my first MMA amateur fight. I won the fight by first round knockout and fell in love with the game immediately.
What professional titles have you held? Ring of Combat Featherweight Champ, Maverick Featherweight Champ
Any accomplishments in amateur combat sports? Multiple gold medals in judo, kumite fighting
Any belts/ ranks in striking disciplines? Brown belt in karate
What has been your toughest fight to date and why? My toughest fight has been Melsik on Contender Series because I was recovering from covid lungs and my supraspinatus nerve in my left shoulder wasn’t working so I couldn’t use my left arm almost at all.
Who is your favorite fighter and why? My favorite fighter of all time is Conor McGregor. I just always loved his fight style and confidence. Also he will always be the face of fighting. What he’s done in/for the sport and even worldwide is remarkable. Current fighter is Ilia for same reasons regarding skill and confidence.
Do you have any heroes outside of fighting? Outside of fighting my heroes are my parents. They left their country not knowing about the outside world(due to growing up isolated in communism), and left everything/risked everything so I can have opportunities in this life. They’ve done everything for me with all the risk, no knowledge and no language, no plan but just hope. I owe them everything.
What are your current ranks in martial arts? I'm a brown belt in karate and blue belt in BJJ(I haven’t done gi in like 8 years, I’m easy purple belt level now)
Is there a cause that you want to use your platform for? A cause I want to use my platform for is to inspire first generation kids from parents who left everything for them. To work hard and dream big to not let their parents sacrifice be in vain.
Beyond a championship or money, what motivates you? Beyond championship and money, what motivates me is my potential. We all have this hero movie of ourselves in our minds, and I want to live mine out. To be the best Dennis Buzukja I can possibly be, in every endeavor.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I went to college but put it on hold to turn this dream into a reality.
What was your job before you started fighting? Before I started fighting, I was working construction. I would set up suspended scaffolds on certain jobs and brought the bricklayers cement and blocks.
Personal Life / Background: Outside of fighting I keep myself busy with business. I love real estate so I’m managing 3 projects in Miami now, 1 of which I invested in myself and the other 2 I’m managing for a percentage. I love networking and looking for good business deals. I’m obsessed with cats and I love going to the beach in Miami after training or in between meetings. On my free time I just enjoy having a coffee outside at a cafe with friends or reading/praying.
