Dana White Contender Series, Season 7

Episode eight (9/26/23) Silva won a three round unanimous decision over Angel Pacheco

When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training MMA in 2017. I started going to MMA because I was invited to a sparring session and I met Marco Ruas. He had me spar two top amateur fighters at the school and I had no experience in MMA, but I did have a background of boxing and wrestling growing up. I had the upper hand the whole time against both fighters and Marco was impressed. He invited me the following week to another sparring session and ended up introducing me to Kami Safdari, who was Cub Swanson’s manager. He offered me a contract to be my manager and also got me a fight three months after meeting him.

Training: Run two miles, do mitts, and at night do six or seven rounds of live grappling.

What ranks and titles have you held? I was ranked 2nd in California and held a regional title.

Do you have any heroes? I don’t have any heroes, but I do look up to my mother. She’s a single mom that raised three boys in a tough area.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? For me to fight in the UFC means the beginning of goals I wanted to accomplish ever since I was born. I’ve dreamed of glory and climbing the toughest mountain and this is just the surface of me scratching that itch.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I went to a Trade School to become a certified welder.

What was your job before you started fighting? Before I made MMA full-time, I was a utility engineer.

Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? Ninja choke

Specific accomplishments in pro competition? Jab, hook (same side) side step to right hook
