Cole Williams

When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training back in 2006, once I finished wrestling in college.  I didn’t achieve my goals and was left with a desire to compete.  I was too small for WWE, so I figured this was the next step for me. I realized I was pretty good at this sport and kept picking up all the different styles of the game.  

What ranks and titles have you held? Pinnacle welterweight title 

Do you have any heroes? My heroes include my brother Steve Williams, and my best friend Nick Sorenson.  Nick served our country for the Marines.   They are two of my biggest supporters. 

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? Fighting for the UFC is everything.  I saw TUF 1 and thought I could do this. I set out a goal to step inside the Octagon and compete.   This call up should’ve happened years ago, but I’d never turn down this opportunity.  

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Attended the University of Dubuque, majored in health and wellness but never finished my degree.  

What was your job before you started fighting? I’ve been working for Best Buy since 2003. I’m currently a regional manager for Geek Squad for southern WI, northern IL

Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? Broke every school wrestling record at the University of Dubuque, over 100 career wins. Amateur MMA “sanctioned” record is 2-0, fought at 160 and at heavyweight.
