Brock Lesnar has traveled an incredible journey from NCAA national champion at the University of Minnesota to international superstar as the first fighter in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) history to hold a championship belt after only four fights.

Lesnar’s story will be chronicled on Big Ten Tonight at 10 PM ET on Sunday immediately following the Minnesota at Iowa wrestling match.

“The Iowa Hawkeyes. I guess, to put it lightly, we hated their guts,” Lesnar laughs while recalling his legendary matches with rival Wes Hand.

Lesnar’s first taste of national success came as an amateur at the University of Minnesota, where he was a two-time Big Ten Champion and 2000 NCAA Champion. He then earned international stardom as a world-champion professional wrestler in WWE. He pursued a career in the NFL before finding his niche as a fighter.

“I’m a fighting Gopher, I guess you could say,” Lesnar said. “There are certain stages in everybody’s life that help make you who you are this very day and the University of Minnesota was a huge part of my life.”
