With the recent signing of former WWE star CM Punk, here's a special collection of Pro-wrestlers in MMA. Watch on

When Phil “CM Punk” Brooks made his earth-shattering announcement at UFC 181 that he was leaving behind the professional wrestling ring for a new career path inside the Octagon, there was a mixed reaction.
Fighters took to social media to give their thoughts on Brooks’ announcement, some positive and some negative. In the days that followed, another host of fighters decided to extend a public invitation for Brooks to join their respective fight camps.
New UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler, fresh off his win against Johny Hendricks at UFC 181, started things off.

Hey .@cmpunk everyone doubted me too. I moved down to @americantopteam and proved them wrong. Come here and do the same

Then the No. 1 contender to Jon Jones' light heavyweight title used some recent examples of success at AKA to try and convince Brooks.

. @CMPunk we've done it before with @herschelwalker (2-0), @akahq is your home. No recruiting pitch needed. I will see u soon. DC

Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone, who will face Myles Jury at UFC 182, also sent his pitch to Punk on Twitter.

Hey @CMPunk I was thinking you should come on down to the #BMFRanch and learn this @ufc fighting thing??

Even UFC pioneer Ken Shamrock got into the action.

@JayTWarsh @CMPunk @ufc - PHIL, give me a shout when you are READY. God bless - KEN / @arielhelwani @MMAjunkieJohn @MMAWeeklycom

Brooks is expected to make his UFC debut in 2015 at middleweight, unless he feels he can successfully make the cut down to 170 pounds. He is expected to make his decision on a fight camp any day now.
For the past few years, Brooks, with a fighting background in kempo and Jiu Jitsu, has trained with Rener Gracie in his time away from the squared circle.
