Frankie Edgar defeats Chad Mendes
IT’S ALL OVER! Frankie Edgar sends the crowd crazy as he knocks Mendes out in the 1st Round with a right-left combo. As soon as Mendes hit the deck it was over, a KO for Edgar at 2:28.

Frankie Edgar: “Thank you. This is a big one for me. Thank God I got blessed with a great team and a great family. If someone doesn’t show up tomorrow, I’m ready. I’ve won my last five fights, you’ve got to give it to me. New Jersey, I’m coming home with the W for us.”

The Ultimate Fighter Season 22 finale: Ryan Hall defeats Artem Lobov
YOUR NEW ULTIMATE FIGHTER IS RYAN HALL! Leg locks, armbar attempts, standing triangles … Hall put on a very technical fight and was in complete control of this matchup to be crowned winner of Season 22 of The Ultimate Fighter. The fight went the distance, and the judges’ rewarded Hall’s dominance by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-27).
They said it:
Ryan Hall: “Artem is an incredibly tough opponent. I had a lot of challenges in this camp. Artem has incredible shots. It’s an honor and I want to thank all of my coaches and the fighters from the house that took the time off to help me. Next, I want to rest and then I’ll be ready for whatever comes my way.”
Artem Lobov: “What can I say? Tonight was not my best fight or my best performance, it was a crap fight for the fans. But Ryan did what he had to do. I hope the UFC will have me back and give me another chance, but I won't blame them if they don't. Maybe I'm not meant to do things first time, it took me two attempts to get into the house and maybe this is the way it's meant to be. If the UFC gives me another chance I'll give the fans something to cheer for.”

Tony Ferguson defeats Edson Barboza
What a fun first round! After a illegal kick to the head while on the ground foul, which resulted in a point deduction for “El Cucuy” Fergsuon, the pair traded blows and momentum throughout. Things got messy in the second as both fighters got cuts on their faces, but after an intense exchange it went to the ground where Ferguson was able to get the submission by D’arce choke at 2:54 of the round. As a result, Ferguson extends his active win streak to seven, second-longest in the division (Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is at 8).

Tony Ferguson: “I said I was going to take apart this entire division and that’s what I’m doing. If number five is afraid of me, then I’ll go to number four and same thing all the way to number one. I’m top five in the lightweight division, there’s no doubt about that.”

Evan Dunham defeats Joe Lauzon
Dunham showed off his strength in this fight as he out-struck Lauzon from beginning to end. Whether strikes in the open or dirty boxing from in the clinch, the product of Eugene, OR, outmatched the nine year UFC vet despite Lauzon finding a way to cut open a gash above Dunham’s right eye in the 2nd Round. The judges’ saw it as such, giving Dunham the unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-27).
They said it:
Evan Dunham: “I just changed a few things and got some help on my striking and it’s worked well so far. I have a lot of great guys in my corner, so I stopped stressing about everything and it’s really helped out. My hands were working really well for me and I felt like there was a speed difference. When I wanted to really go, I could easily get in and get out so that was a big difference.”
Joe Lauzon: “Evan is a really good kickboxer. I wanted to stand with him in the first and then take him down later in the fight, but he wasn’t really having that. He took me down early and I messed my knee up and I wasn’t able to move around how I wanted after that.”

Tatsuya Kawajiri defeats Jason Knight
A very technical fight as Kawajiri, the No. 13 ranked featherweight, found a way to take Knight to the ground and be in control in all three rounds of the fight. While Knight did land some shots from the bottom, Japan’s Kawajiri led all the major statistics – doubling the amount of strikes (114 to 47), almost doubling the significant strikes (17-9), and holding a big lead in control (13:29 versus just 3 seconds for Knight). The judges rewarded Kawajri with a unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

Tatsuya Kawajiri: “I wanted to win that fight in fantastic fashion so that I could fight the winner of tonight’s main event between Frankie Edgar and Chad Mendes next; but American fighters have a very high skill level, so I think I need more practice. Honestly, Jason’s skill and game plan surprised me, but I think he had an advantage by taking the fight on short notice, He was a completely different fighter from the fighter I was preparing for. I’ve had a rough road as of late, so I am prepared for anything.”
Jason Knight: “I could have done better. I thought I was going to beat him in the first round, but I got tired and I didn’t fight the second round as hard as I could have. I had better standup and came close to submitting him on his back. I did the best I could fighting on two weeks’ notice.”

Julian Erosa defeats Marcin Wrzosek
Grappling, dirty boxing, submission attempts, the first two rounds of this matchup had it all as both fighters remained busy throughout making it tough to score at home. The third saw a small stoppage when Erosa landed an accidental kick below the belt, but otherwise it was a frenetic pace as both traded shots via punches and kicks and at one point even a flying knee (by Erosa). The fight went the distance and the judges’ scorecards gave the victory to “Juicy J” Erosa by split decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29).

Julian Erosa: “It feels fantastic to get this win. I gassed my arms out, but I dug deep and when Marcin started to pull away, I turned the tables on him. I have about 100 friends and family here from my hometown, not to mention the fans I don’t know that I’ve gained from The Ultimate Fighter. It’s been surreal having fans ask me for pictures and autographs walking around the hotel. It feels great to be able to get this win for all of them. I’m going to drop to featherweight after this, but I’m ready for anybody as soon as next week.”
Marcin Wrzosek: “Next time I’m going to come out and finish my opponent and not leave it to the judges. It was a great fight and I hope that the UFC gives me another chance. I’d like to drop down to either 135 or 145-pounds, these guys in this division are just too big for me.”

Gabriel Gonzaga defeats Konstantin Erokhin
A very tentative start to the fight as the heavyweights kept their distance until about a minute remained in the 1st Round when they started trading a few flurries and even a takedown by Gonzaga. The 2nd Round saw a very similar approach as there was a lot of respect for each fighters’ power. The action in the final round started earlier, with a few strikes before Gonzaga scored another takedown in the first minute. There was another flurry as the pair got off the mat with less than 2 minutes left in the fight, but neither really capitalized before the fight finish and the decision was left in the judges’ hands, who scored it in favor of Gonzaga by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-28). As a result, he moves up to third on the all-time UFC heavyweight wins list with his 12th victory.
They said it:
Gabriel Gonzaga: “He is a tough guy with dangerous knockouts and knockout power so I had to keep my distance and be smart all fight. It was a very tough fight and I was very happy to walk away with a win.”
Konstantin Erokhin: “I broke my thumb in the first round and I wasn’t able to fight the way I had planned. The next time out, I promise to deliver a fun fight for the fans.”

Ryan LaFlare defeats Mike Pierce
You want striking? LaFlare and Pierce got your striking. Both fighters struggled with takedowns so they traded big shots at times throughout the fight – especially late in the third and final round. New York native LaFlare came out with a flurry and looked to have won the 1st Round, but he and Pierce traded momentum throughout the 2nd and there was a moment where LaFlare was even dazed on the fence. There was flurries from both but in the end the bell rang and the judges’ decided the contest in favor of LaFlare (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) for his 12th overall victory and fifth in the UFC (All by unanimous decision).
They said it:
Ryan LaFlare: “Mike hits really hard. Every time he connected I felt it. I just wanted to get out of the first round and clear my head. I was the more accurate and harder puncher; I landed more punches and I think that’s what won me the fight. I was just trying to go out there and get that $50,000 bonus, I’ve got kids to feed. I want to continue to climbing the ranks. The thing I learned from the Maia fight was that I can control my progression, there’s no need to race to the top.”
Mike Pierce: “I’m just pissed I didn’t pull the trigger sooner. I had him hurt in the first round and had him hurt in the third round, I just couldn’t get the finish.”

Geane Herrera defeats Joby Sanchez
After a pretty even start to the fight between the flyweights, the action picked in the 2nd Round up after Herrera opened up Sanchez above his left eye. The two traded blows and momentum until the 4:28 mark when Herrera landed a perfectly placed left jab that dropped Sanchez immediately and led to the TKO stoppage. “The Revolutionary” Herrera took this fight on one-weeks’ notice and improved his record to 1-1 in the UFC and 9-1 overall.

Geane Herrera: “I feel great. Joby is a top notch competitor. I give him credit for letting me take the fight on short notice, it was a battle and a tough fight. I’m here to make a change in the division, I’m going to revolutionize the flyweight division and this is how it’s done.”
Joby Sanchez: “He took the fight on less than two weeks’ notice and my hat is off to him for doing that. He didn’t do anything that surprised me, he just fought really well.”

Chris Gruetzemacher defeats Abner Lloveras
The Ultimate Fighter Season 22 finale is underway! A strong start to the night of fights as Gruetzemacher and Lloveras were active throughout the three-round fight – and while both landed several significant strikes throughout the fight, it seemed like Gruetzemacher was in control through most of the 15-minute bout. The judges’ scorecards confirmed that appearance, with the Arizona-native getting the nod by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28). While tonight’s fight is Gruetzemacher’s UFC debut, it is his 12th straight victory.
They said it:
Chris Gruetzemacher: “I’ve thought about this moment for years. Just getting to this event and fighting in the UFC, I’m speechless. I don’t know what to say to be honest. I’ve put a lot of work and time in to get here and it’s finally paid off for me.”
Abner Lloveras: “It was a dream come true to fight for the UFC. I was trying very hard to win the fight, but his game plan worked better than mine. I had him in some good jiu jitsu positions, but he defended them. Congratulations to Chris.”
