Nurmagomedov and Dodson big winners in new rankings

In one of the biggest rankings shakeups in 2016, there were a number of climbers on the heels of an action-packed Fight Night Tampa.

The biggest winner may be Khabib Nurmagomedov, who finished Darrell Horcher by TKO and jumped current No. 1 title contender Eddie Alvarez to grab the No. 1 ranking at lightweight.

In the same division, Michael Chiesa jumped five spots after submitting Beneil Dariush in the FOX prelims main event. Chiesa became the first fighter to submit Dariush in his 14-fight MMA career. The Iranian lightweight fell three spots to No. 10 after the loss.

Light heavyweight Glover Teixeira knocked out Rashad Evans in dramatic fashion in the main event of Fight Night Tampa. The KO earned him a one-spot jump to No. 3 in the division, passing two-time title challenger Alexander Gustafsson.

Former flyweight title contender John Dodson made his return to bantamweight official on UFC FIGHT PASS Saturday night, and his impact was felt with a first-round TKO win against Manny Gamburyan. Dodson makes his debut in the 135-pound ranks at No. 10.

The women’s bantamweight division underwent a massive shift in the lower tier following Raquel Pennington’s victory against Bethe Correia. “Rocky” jumps up to No. 9 ahead of Correia, who falls three spots to No. 11. Valentina Shevchenko jumped into the Top 10 at No. 10, Marion Reneau moved up three spots to No. 12, and Ashlee Evans-Smith appeared at No. 15 on the list.
