Heavyweight Prospects East and Blaydes Collide in Portland

Up and comers Cody East and Curtis Blaydes may have come up short in their Octagon debuts earlier this year, but on October 1 in Portland, Oregon, the two heavyweight prospects get a second chance to make a first impression when they meet up in UFC Fight Night action at Moda Center.

In the FOX Sports 1 main event, it's a bantamweight showdown, as top contenders John Dodson and John Lineker meet for the first time.

Hailing from Albuquerque, East ran off wins in 12 of 13 bouts (nine by knockout) to earn a spot on the UFC roster. The "Freight Train" engaged in an exciting battle with Walt Harris before being stopped in their April bout, but he is determined to get the job done against Chicago's "Razor" Blaydes, who was 5-0 with five KOs before his April debut against Francis Ngannou. Blaydes also gave a good account of himself before a doctor's stoppage due to an eye injury ended his night. On October 1, one of these highly-touted big men will walk away with their first UFC victory.
